AU info: In the original game, Clementia Förster - Aliasse's 'mother' - defected to Gallia around the year 1935, taking Aliasse with her, which in turn kicked off the events of the game.
In this AU, that did not happen. Clementia moved further westwards instead, using old contacts to strike a deal that secured her a position among the scientists of the Federation in return for her considerable knowledge. She still built up a program to create artificial 'Valkyria' units, although it took her a longer time to do so. Around the year 1939, her creations were first tested, alongside Aliasse herself. In the following months, Clementia remained with the advancing army of the Federation, Aliasse at her side both as a weapon, and as a trump card to make sure the Federation would not just discard her.
Summary:
History:
Aliasse was taken from her real parents at a very young age and spent her early life in a research facility of the East Europan Imperial Alliance, subject to many experiments. The scientists, among them a woman named Clementia Förster, were trying to understand and ultimately weaponize the abilities of a legendary group of people: the Valkyrur.
According to legend, the continent had once been inhabited by the 'Darcsen', who almost annihilated themselves in a brutal war using 'ragnite' weapons - until the Valkyrur stepped in to save the continent. Valkyrur supposedly had immense powers, and it were these powers that the scientists in service of the Empire wanted to harness.
Of all the subjects at the facility, two were particularly noteworthy for their abilities: Selvaria Bles ...and Aliasse. Their life was said to be quite grim, although for Aliasse, the experiments had always been... normal. As she did not have a true mother, she had attached herself to one of the scientists - Clementia Förster - and saw the experiments as an expression of Förster's love.
Selvaria was different, and took the first chance she got to escape the facility, joining Maximilian, one of the imperial princes, when the Empire declared war on the western Federation.
For a while, Aliasse's life did not change much. There were experiments, tests, a loveless life, but a life all the same for one that did not know any better. Really, the only change during the war for her was more experiments, since the facility had just lost their other Valkyrur.
But then, some time later, Maximilian died in the war, as did Selvaria. Maximilian had always been one of the benefactors of the facility, and without his support, things were falling apart. Clementia Förster noticed this early, and took matters into her own hands.
She defected from the empire, the docile Aliasse at her side, and fled westward.
And this is where Aliasse's path split from her canonical path.
Clementually eventually found refuge with the Federation, not within a small country called Gallia. True, Clementia had once worked for the enemies of the Federation - but her knowledge was too important for her to be refused, especially since the Federation had been driven back far on the southern front. At this point, they needed all the firepower they could get...
Aliasse remained with Clementia during all of this. Experiments on her provided vital data that Clementia used to build up a program that would, eventually, lead to the creation of artificial Valkyrur. All the while, Clementia did her best to shield Aliasse from much human contact. Clementia saw human feelings in a Valkyrur as a weakness, after all, she wanted test subjects and weapons, not people.
When Clementia's work provided results, Clementia was sent eastward, to oversee the human weapons she had created. And Aliasse went along with her, both because she was still stronger than any of the artificial Valkyrur... ...and because she was Clementia's trump card. The scientist did not trust the Federation one bit, and liked to keep her assets close by. With Aliasse at her side, Clementia could flee if she needed to - and had the means to defend herself, in case the Federation attempted to double cross her.
For Aliasse, the new situation changed everything. Now she was in the field, among people. She got to see so many new things: Places like forests or bombed cities, animals - and, of course, humans. The new situation prevented Clementia from completely controlling Aliasse's surroundings as well. The scientist could not prevent her 'asset' from interacting with humans.
The curious girl finally had some human interaction, and quite enjoyed it. Unlike in her canon, this never had the time to fully progress to outright rebellion against her mother, although it often led to struggles. After these, Aliasse would often run off, exploring whatever army camp she was in or even disappearing into a forest for a night. Clementia had little choice to grit her teeth during those events - her hands were full with her project, not to mention the fact that she had to make sure that her 'allies' did not see the weakening relationship between Clementia and Aliasse as a weakness...
Personality:
[Note that the examples are pulled from her canon behavior, as despite the differences in history, the character is still the same overall person, and would thus react in similar ways, in my opinion!]
Aliasse is a surprisingly cheerful, energetic and curious person with a tendency to act without thinking. Her upbringing and limited human interaction make her unfamiliar with a lot of regular interaction, especially politeness - she tends to speak her mind without thinking too much. She also lacks a concept of money, and was spotted pilfering provisions when she was hungry - they were there in the open, and thus clearly ripe for the taking. This did not make her feel guilty at all - in fact, as seen in several scenes, having to pay money for food at stalls instead genuinely confused her.
She participated in several battles, where she destroyed entire units by herself, without blinking an eye or displaying any hesitation. She clearly did not understand the ramifications of her actions, that she had killed people. Quite the contrary, from the expression on her face and her laughter during her attacks, it was quite clear that she considered the fights exciting and fun. This stems directly from her upbringing by Clementia Förster, who wanted a weapon, after all - not a daughter, and who originally taught Aliasse that other people existed solely for killing.
For most of her life, appeasing Clementia Förster was Aliasse's main goal. She fought to make her 'mother' happy, and even considered experiments done on her a good thing, for surely, they were displaying her 'mother's' love for her. Indeed, Aliasse is quite starved for praise and will happily go along with whoever she thinks is on her side, as long as she gets praised for it. A group of students managed to rope her into pulling pranks for them with this, for example, and Aliasse never even understood that the pranks were bothering people until it was explained to her.
When she can interact with friendly people, Aliasse gets really excited. As in the example above, she happily goes along with what seems fun to her then, and also tries to pull people she likes along. For example, right after learning to swim, she pulled a girl called Magari into the pool, almost causing the other girl - who couldn't swim - to drown. It didn't even occur to Aliasse to check.
Conversely, she loses heart when she's entirely alone (case in point: the game actually has a mechanic that lowers her stats if she is alone). She really craves human interaction.
Finally, Aliasse is not a character that gets angry all that easily. She might growl at people that take her food (after she stole it) or try to push her into things she doesn't consider too fun or rewarding, but for the most part, that is it. It takes a serious threat towards people she'd consider friends (of which she has no concept right now) to get her angry.
The AU version is different from her canon version in so far as that she never met her friends and got human interaction much later, mostly on the military level. She's still unsure about this 'friends' concept and still craves human attention quite a bit. The relationship with her 'mother' has deteriorated some, but not to the extent it did in the later part of her canon. While she is beginning to develop empathy, she has yet to meet people she cares enough about that show her how human interaction is supposed to be like, all she knows is the way hardened soldiers act.
Her being slightly older has made her slightly less childish - for example, she won't cry over falling and dropping ice cream and she is not AS naive anymore - for instance, she wouldn't fail hide and seek any longer when somebody calls her name - they'd at the very least have to pretend the hide and seek was over. That does not keep her from being curious about all the things she doesn't know, though, and she'll still happily engage in more childish games if given the opportunity and getting an explanation why the games are fun (even though she might not be too good at it, and ends up kicking things in people's faces instead).
Powers:
Aliasse is a Valkyrur. This affects her body, is always on, and grants her superhuman agility and toughness. Her wounds close at an extremely high pace, as well.
Her innate active ability is unleashing the energy inside ragnite items, such as her whip-sword and shield. These allow her to throw a massive blast of energy at her enemies. This has the usual limit of active abilities within the bastion.
She can also unleash the energy within herself. This is called final flame, causes a gargantuan explosion and completely eradicates the user. As she never learned this ability in her canon, she is not even aware that she has it and will thus never be able to use it within the Bastion.
As for equipment, Aliasse arrives with only her clothes, a cloak and her whip-sword/shield. She does not have any notable skills other than fighting. The weapon is essentially a sword that can adjust its structure to be more ellastic, allowing whip-like attacks. The shield, meanwhile, can be used to block energy attacks entirely.
Entry: Finding her way to the Bastion so she can raid the bread storage.
